Wifi, bathing and online booking – what campers choose the campsite for.

1 min read

The majority of caravan and motorhome vacationers want to reserve and book online. Wifi and bathing facilities are also important to them. This was the result of the representative study “Caravaning Business Insights 2022” published at the end of June.

Criteria for campsite selection – online bookability far out in front

More than two-thirds (68%) of respondents find it very important or important to be able to book online. For 34%, this is even very important. In each case, 32%, i.e. a total of 64% of respondents, consider online booking to be important or very important. This also includes the desire for online payment. Thus online reservation, online booking including payment reach top positions in the selection criteria according to which guests choose a campsite. They are only just behind the criteria WLAN, pool, lake or sea and clearly ahead of shopping facilities, gastronomy, animation and other leisure facilities.

Most arrivals in 2022 are imminent – campsites score points with online bookability.

A quarter of respondents plan their vacation in July, 37 % in August. Another 20 % want to head for campsites in September. It could be especially worthwhile now for campground operators to provide online availability. This way, they take advantage of the high demand for online bookability and upcoming arrival dates. In addition, campgrounds that rely on online demand can optimize occupancy in the off-season. (Become bookable now on PiNCAMP, click here)
